Public Relations

The Orange Grove Vol. Fire Dept. offers public education on fire safety issues. Members can offer station tours and public appearance of apparatus at special events. Below is a list of options that the department has available to offer. Due to the time required to coordinate the event while having to maintain coverage, we must adhere to the following procedures below. Please carefully read the different types of events in which we are able to schedule.

Requests should be made two weeks in advance; request will be filled in the order in which they are received. Requests must be approved by the Fire Chief prior to scheduling. Because the OGVFD is a working volunteer fire department, availability for public events may be limited. Members may be late, may have to leave early, or may be unable to participate due to emergencies or schedule conflicts. 

Station/Apparatus tours are approved by the Fire Chief and supported by the members of the OGVFD based on availability. Members may be requested/scheduled to facilitate station tours as needed. Tours may consist of a safety discussion by a firefighter, tour of the station bay, overview of apparatus/equipment/gear, and questions & answer session. Evening/Weekend tours may be available for groups and families. All health/safety protocols in place will be implemented.

Fire Department apparatus/personnel may visit local churches and pubic functions as approved by the Fire Chief. Firefighters may be requested to teach fire safety tips and to talk about careers in the fire suppression service.

The PR Division will facilitate public school events; if needed or requested, a crew may be assigned to assist. PR school visits support Fire Prevention month (October).

Department Leadership or Members are available to speak to local groups about the OGVFD organization or a variety of fire and life safety issues.
